Attached is a brief two-sided item to assist you in completing your Elections Nomination form. This is not an offocial document.

Regards

Gary Denby, Parish Clerk to Culworth Parish Council

TThe Parish Council plays a key part in the management of the village for the benefit of
the residents. It endeavours to ensure that it is an enjoyable place to live. Being a
Parish Councillor gives you the opportunity to partake in the management of the village
and help it meet its objectives.
There are local elections on 1st May 2025 to decide who will be on your Parish Council
for the next four years, so this is your chance to put yourself forward for election.
Are you –
• passionate about your local community?
• reasonably confident with IT?
• flexible, adaptable and open-minded?
• have a few hours spare each month?
You will need to be available to meet once a month and have time to receive and read
various correspondence outside of these meetings. Councillors are not paid, but act in
this role because they are passionate about the community and must abide by a local
government code of conduct. Training to help you in your role is provided and paid for
by the Council.

The Parish Council generally meets on the first Thursday of the odd months (except
August and December) in the Village Hall. If you join a Working Party or become a
Council representative on another body, then you will be expected to attend those
meetings or events as well.
What your Council does:-
Village verges grass cutting, trees on greens spaces,
Play Park, Cricket Field, Street Lighting, Civic events and Traffic Calming, Village Tidying

How to get involved:-
Please have a look at the Northamptonshire CALC link for the elections, with its helpful
advice and directions to download the Nominations Papers for Parish Elections. You
can also request a copy from your Parish Clerk. NOTE THE LIMITED TIME TO APPLY!
northantscalc.gov.uk/elections

Please read the directions given (a bit daunting), but there are only three sides for you
to complete:-
1a - Nomination Paper, where a fellow Parishioners Propose and Second your good character
1b – Your Home Address form (Part 2 IF this is NOT to be made public)
1c – Your Consent to nomination (witnessed by a third party)

There is no need to request an emblem or authorisation, since party-level politics does
not generally occur at the Parish Council level.

You DO need to include the following details to your form:-
1. Ward – delete (this is a part of a town)
2. Parish: CULWORTH for 1a
3. Date of Election: 1 MAY 2025
4. Your surname, forenames… description
5. 2x Polling District: SRSH for 1a
6. 2x Elector Number: Available from your Parish Clerk for 1a
7. 1x Witness details (DON’T FORGET) for 1b Part 1
8. Candidate signature, if needed for 1b Part 2
9. Parish: CULWORTH for 1c
10. Your Date of Birth, Signature and Date of Consent for 1c
11. Your Witness Name and signature (DON’T FORGET) for 1c
You then deliver your Nomination forms in person
